How to Request Account Deletion

If you'd like to delete your Recipe Genius account and remove your data, you can do so using any of the methods below. Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

Delete from within the app (recommended) Open Recipe Genius → tap Profile (bottom nav) → tap Delete Account → confirm deletion. Your account and all cloud data will be removed immediately.
Email us directly Send an email to brian@recipegenius.ai with the subject line "Delete My Account". Include the email address associated with your account. We will process your request within 3 business days.
Use the contact form Go to our Contact page and submit a deletion request with your account email. We'll confirm deletion via email.

What Data Is Deleted vs. Retained

When you delete your account, the following actions are taken:

Data Type	Action	Details
Account credentials	Deleted	Email, password, and authentication tokens are permanently removed from Firebase.
Recipes	Deleted	All recipes stored in the cloud (Pro users) are permanently deleted. Locally stored recipes on your device are not affected — uninstall the app to remove those.
Meal plans	Deleted	All meal calendar data stored in the cloud is permanently removed.
Shopping lists	Deleted	All shopping lists synced to the cloud are permanently removed.
Pantry inventory	Deleted	All pantry data stored in the cloud is permanently removed.
Profile & preferences	Deleted	Dietary preferences, allergies, and profile settings are permanently removed.
Subscription data	Retained 30 days	Purchase records are retained for up to 30 days for refund processing and fraud prevention, then permanently deleted.
Anonymized analytics	Retained	Aggregated, anonymized usage statistics that cannot be linked back to your identity may be retained for product improvement.

⚠️ Important: Account deletion is permanent. Once processed, your cloud-synced recipes, meal plans, shopping lists, and other data cannot be recovered. If you're a Free tier user, your data is already stored locally on your device — deleting your account only removes cloud data and your authentication credentials.

Retention Period

Upon receiving your deletion request:

In-app deletion: Processed immediately. All cloud data is removed within minutes.
Email / contact form requests: Processed within 3 business days. You will receive a confirmation email once complete.
Subscription records: Retained for up to 30 days after deletion for billing reconciliation, then permanently purged.
Backup systems: Cloud backups containing your data are purged within 30 days of account deletion.

Local Data

Recipe Genius stores data locally on your device using Isar (a local database). Deleting your account does not remove locally stored data. To remove all local data, uninstall the Recipe Genius app from your device.
